Sarah Ford is a Secular Buddhist spiritual counselor, mindfulness education facilitator, and artworker. She holds a Master of Divinity degree in Buddhist Studies (2023) from the University of the West, where she focused on imagination, Earth practices, and community connection. A practicing visual and teaching artist with a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design (2004). She has worked in spiritual care at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, providing emotional support to children, families, and staff. Recently, she completed a mindfulness teacher training certificate with iBme (Inward Bound Mindfulness Education).
As a trauma-informed mindfulness facilitator with a recovery lens, Sarah is aware that trauma is prevalent in our lives and allows for agency with practitioners of all ages. Working with the Artist's Way, somatic awareness, and didactic practice, students learn a valuable transition into the studio through meditation exercises. She finds that relational mindfulness techniques and Earth rituals transition the art studio to a healing space for students to develop critical life skills like managing anxiety, obtaining concentration, and voicing authentic emotions that lead to meaningful work.
